The Issues Committee
The purpose of the Issues Committee is to bring interesting and informative issues to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville campus. The Issues Committee shall guide its programming toward ideas and issues that can stimulate and enrich the university community. These programs will be flexible in their forms and will reflect the diversity of values in the university community. The Issues Committee is one of the programmatic committees that comprise the Central Program Council under the auspices of the Office of Student Activities. Recent speakers have included Bill Nye the Science Guy, Reverend Al Sharpton, Alan Keyes, sports journalist Frank Deford, photographer James Nachtwey, and activist Angela Davis.
Issues Membership Drive Extended
The Issues Committee has extended the deadline for it's membership applications to February 22nd.

Issues Committee Lauches Membership Drive
The Issues Committee is now accepting new members for the 2007-2008 school year. All interested students should complete the membership application and return it to the Office of Student Activities on the third floor of the University Center.

The Issues Committee Presents Seymour Hersh
The Issues Committee is pleased to present Seymour Hersh, a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and author, who will discuss his most recent book, Chain of Command: The Road from 9/11 to Abu Ghraib, in which he lays out the chain of events from the September 11th attacks to the war in Iraq. more>

Issues Committee Announces New Event
The Issues Committee announced today that it will bring Bob Woodward to campus on October 16th. Mr. Woodward is assistant managing editor of The Washington Post and working with his co-employee Carl Bernstein he helped to uncover the Watergate scandal that led to President Richard Nixon's resignation. Woodward has written 12 best-selling non-fiction books and has twice contributed reporting to efforts that collectively earned the Post and its National Reporting staff a Pulitzer Prize.
